To produce 'Sona, I worked with people from the furry fandom, a community rooted in the appreciation of anthropomorphic art. “Furries” often represent themselves in their community with a particular fursona, sometimes just for fun, sometimes as a well-considered and nuanced representation of their inner self. In ‘Sona, I capture the everyday persona and the chosen fursona of each furry in a single portrait, made by hand weaving two photographs – or a photograph and commissioned artwork - together.
